Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer for a digital solutions provider in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will shape intuitive experiences across web and mobile, translating complex user needs into elegant, functional designs.

You will lead a cross-functional team, conduct user research, develop wireframes and high-fidelity mockups, create design systems, and mentor junior designers while staying current with UX trends.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, CS or equivalent.
• 5+ years of UX/UI experience with a strong portfolio.
• Experience with usability testing and user research.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product, engineers and stakeholders to understand user needs and business requirements.
• Conduct user research, interviews, surveys, and usability testing.
• Create wireframes, user flows, prototypes and high-fidelity mockups for web and mobile.
• Develop on-brand design systems and style guides.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to understand user needs and business requirements.
• Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather insights.
• Develop wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for web and mobile applications.
• Create visually appealing and on-brand design systems and style guides.
• Iterate on designs based on feedback, user testing, and performance data.
• Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Stay updated with the latest UX/UI trends, tools, and technologies.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to a collaborative design culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in UX/UI design, with a strong portfolio showcasing digital product design work.
• Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or InVision.
• Solid understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, and interaction design.
• Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
• Experience with front-end development principles (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) is advantageous.
