Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Process Engineer to join an upstream operations team based in Upington, South Africa. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in upstream Oil & Gas process engineering.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and mass transfer.
• Experience with process simulation software (HYSYS, Aspen Plus) and P&ID development.
• Familiarity with process safety management (PSM) principles and risk assessment techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and optimize process designs for upstream facilities, including separation, dehydration, and compression units.
• Monitor plant performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Develop and review P&IDs, operating procedures, and safety manuals.
• Conduct PHAs and implement recommendations to mitigate risks.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams.
• Evaluate new technologies and equipment for potential implementation to enhance performance and safety.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company standards.
