Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of our client, seeks a Senior Mining Engineer to join their Kimberley team to lead underground mining planning and execution. You will optimize methods, supervise operations, ensure safety and environmental compliance, and drive efficiency to meet production targets.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of eight years in underground mining, a Bachelors in Mining Engineering, and hands-on experience with Deswik and Vulcan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in underground mining engineering and operations.
• Proficiency with Deswik and Vulcan mine planning software and surveying tools.
• Strong understanding of mining methods, rock mechanics, and ventilation systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
• Experience in the South African mining context is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement detailed mine plans and production schedules, focusing on safety and efficiency.
• Oversee mining operations, ensuring adherence to technical specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical reviews for new mining projects or expansions.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and operational staff.
