Placements24 in Durban is seeking a highly experienced Senior Telecoms Field Engineer to join their distributed team. The role centers on remote support, guiding on-site technicians, and ensuring reliable deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecom infrastructure across multiple sites.

You will diagnose complex network issues, develop remote troubleshooting guides, and collaborate with engineering and operations to implement upgrades, while working autonomously in a fully remote

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on field engineering in telecoms.
• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related.
• Proficiency with fiber optics, base stations and transmission equipment.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols and diagnostic tools.
• Excellent remote troubleshooting and ability to guide technicians remotely.

Responsibilities

• Provide remote expert-level support for installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
• Diagnose and resolve complex network issues escalated from field staff.
• Create remote troubleshooting guides and procedures for field teams.
• Perform remote performance analyses and capacity planning.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations on network upgrades.
• Ensure safety and policy compliance remotely.
