Placements24 is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced telecom networks from a fully remote setup across South Africa. You will ensure reliability, scalability, and security while guiding a distributed engineering team.

The ideal candidate holds a relevant engineering degree with 7+ years of experience in network design, demonstrates expertise in BGP/OSPF, MPLS, and wireless tech (4G/5G), and can work independently in a remote

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional experience in telecommunications network design and management.
• Expertise in routing and switching protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and network security technologies.
• Proven experience with wireless technologies (4G/5G) and IP networking.
• Ability to work independently and manage projects remotely.
• Strong analytical skills and proactive problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage robust telecommunications networks for high availability and performance.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues and perform root cause analysis for critical incidents.
• Develop and maintain network security policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on upgrades, deployments, and capacity planning.
• Document network configurations, procedures, and incident reports.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the remote team.
