Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Telecoms Network Security Engineer to join the Randburg security operations team. You will design, implement and manage robust security solutions to protect critical telecom infrastructure and respond to evolving cyber threats.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in CS/Cybersecurity and at least 8 years of network security experience in telecom environments, with deep knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, encryption, and SIEM.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years in network security, with telecom environments experience.
• Deep knowledge of security protocols, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption.
• Experience with SIEM tools and security analytics.
• Scripting skills (Python/Bash) for automation, incident handling.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security measures for telecom network (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, SIEM).
• Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and pen tests.
• Develop security policies, standards, and procedures across network infra.
• Respond to incidents, perform forensic analysis, and implement remediation.
• Monitor traffic for anomalies and stay updated on threats in telecoms.
