Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Telecoms Network Architect in Randburg, Gauteng, for leading core network design and evolution. You will conceptualize, design, and oversee implementations of robust telecoms solutions aligned with business strategy and future tech.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, Telecoms or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 8–10 years in telecom network design and architecture.
• Deep knowledge of IP networking, BGP/OSPF, switching, firewalls and load balancing.
• Experience with mobile core networks (4G LTE, 5G NSA/SA) and transport networks.
• Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP) and SDN/NFV concepts.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Industry certifications (CCDE, JNCIE) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design high-level and detailed network architectures for telecom services.
• Evaluate and select networking technologies, protocols, and solutions.
• Create architectural diagrams, documentation, and implementation plans.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and product teams to ensure architectural integrity.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance on network design best practices.
• Assess network performance, scalability, and security; recommend improvements.
• Stay current with emerging network technologies and industry trends.
• Conduct technical reviews and ensure adherence to architectural standards.
• Identify and mitigate risks associated with network designs.
• Mentor junior engineers and architects within the organization.
