Placements24 is seeking a Senior Network Security Architect to design, implement, and manage secure network infrastructures across a major telecom provider in Johannesburg. You will lead security strategy, threat mitigation, and regulatory compliance efforts in a dynamic environment.

The role requires 7+ years in network security with telecom exposure, expertise in NGFW, WAF, SIEM, EDR, and cloud security, plus strong scripting capabilities for automation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT/Cybersecurity; master’s preferred.
• 7+ years in network security engineering and architecture, with telecom focus.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing (BGP/OSPF), switching, and security principles.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNA Security desirable; Python/PowerShell scripting a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain enterprise‑level network security solutions (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, NAC).
• Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures across the network.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests to remediate weaknesses.
• Architect and deploy controls against APTs and cyber‑attacks; lead incident response.
• Collaborate with IT ops, development, and business units to embed security across lifecycle.
• Stay updated on threats and industry standards (POPIA, GDPR, ISO 27001).
• Provide mentorship to junior analysts/engineers; evaluate new security tech.
