Placements24 seeks a Senior Telecommunications Systems Architect to lead and oversee the architecture of large-scale telecom systems from Durban. You will define technical strategies, set standards, and ensure seamless integration of IP, mobile core, and cloud-native components.

The role requires a visionary leader with deep telecom tech knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in telecommunications network design and architecture.
• Expertise in IP networking, 4G/5G core networks, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and virtualization.
• Experience with SDN/NFV architectures and protocols.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and document the high-level architecture for new telecommunications systems and services.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend architectural approaches to meet business and technical objectives.
• Lead technical discussions and provide architectural guidance to project teams throughout the system development lifecycle.
• Develop and maintain architectural standards, patterns, and best practices.
• Ensure that system designs are scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-effective.
• Collaborate with product management, engineering, and operations teams to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Conduct technical reviews and provide feedback on system designs to ensure alignment with architectural vision.
• Mentor junior architects and engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
