Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a visionary Telecoms Network Architect in Sandton to lead strategic design and evolution of the network infrastructure. The role focuses on long-term vision, architectural blueprints, and scalable, secure telecom systems across the Gauteng region and beyond.

You will guide engineering teams, shape technology choices, and drive roadmaps to ensure high availability and efficiency of operations in a senior leadership capacity.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in telecommunications network design and architecture.
• Deep expertise in enterprise networking, IP routing, MPLS, SD-WAN, and cloud networking concepts.
• Proven experience designing large-scale, high-availability networks.
• Strong understanding of security principles and network resilience strategies.
• Excellent strategic thinking, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the overall telecommunications network architecture, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
• Design scalable, resilient, and secure network solutions for data, voice, and video services.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to inform architectural decisions.
• Create high-level and detailed technical designs, specifications, and roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership to engineering and operations teams during implementations.
• Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure architectural integrity.
