Job summary

Placements24 in Randburg is seeking a Senior Telecoms Security Engineer to lead the defense of telecom networks. You will design, implement, and manage security controls to protect critical assets and data.

Responsibilities include vulnerability assessments, incident response, and collaborating with engineering teams to embed security into new deployments. A CISSP/CCSP/GIAC and 8+ years in telecom security strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• 8+ years of telecoms network security or cybersecurity engineering experience.
• Deep knowledge of network security protocols, tools, and technologies.
• Experience with security hardening, incident response, and risk management.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, or GIAC are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement security solutions for telecom networks (firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs).
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and pentests.
• Develop and enforce security policies across the network.
• Monitor alerts and incidents; respond to threats.
• Collaborate with engineering to embed security in deployments.
• Stay updated on threats and mitigation techniques relevant to telecom.
