Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa seeks a Senior Telecommunications Software Developer to join a fully remote, globally distributed engineering team. You will design, code, test, and deploy high-performance software for next-generation telco services.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in software development, deep telecom protocol knowledge (SIP, RTP, SS7, Diameter), and strong experience with cloud platforms, containers, and microservices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience with telecommunications applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Java, C++, or Go.
• Deep understanding of telecommunications protocols (SIP, RTP, SS7, Diameter).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containers (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement high-quality, scalable telecom software solutions.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented code in Python, Java, C++, or Go.
• Collaborate with product managers and architects to define requirements and specs.
• Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for quality.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve defects across environments.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge.
• Contribute to architecture decisions focused on scalability and performance.
• Stay current with telecom tech trends and CI/CD pipeline management.
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.
