Job summary

Rheinmetall Denel Munitions in Potchefstroom, South Africa, seeks a Senior Technical Buyer to drive sourcing, RFQs and price evaluations, and to negotiate multiyear contracts for strategic programs. This role manages supplier qualification, contracts/SLA finalization and ongoing contract governance.

The ideal candidate holds a B Comm. or B Tech degree with 5+ years in procurement, including management experience in a technical/mechanical environment, and strong negotiation and SAP/MS Office

Qualifications

• B Comm./B Tech degree or equivalent qualification.
• Technical qualification advantageous.
• At least 5 years’ procurement experience with at least 3 years on management level.
• At least 5 years’ procurement experience in a Technical / Mechanical Environment.
• At least 5 years’ material handling experience.
• Project management experience.
• Strong Commercial Orientation and Planning skills with highly organised approach.
• Excellent Negotiation and Communication Skills.
• Advanced Computer Literacy (MS Office Packages and SAP).
• Ability to work independently, show initiative and demonstrate good judgement.
• Good Problem-solving skills.
• Sound financial and technical background.
• Driver`s License is essential.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate and enter into multiyear contracts with major suppliers in collaboration with leadership.
• Ensure availability of strategic suppliers for specific areas.
• Lead cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.
• Develop life cycle costing models for procurement projects.
• Manage supplier risk assessments and performance management.
• Oversee procurement strategies aligned to technical and customer requirements.
