Placements24 is hiring a Lead Structural Engineer to head the structural design team in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will lead design, analysis, and supervision of structural work across commercial, industrial, and residential projects, mentoring engineers and ensuring safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design and project management.
• Proven experience in leading engineering teams and managing design projects from conception to completion.
• Expertise in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE) and CAD tools.
• In-depth knowledge of material properties, structural systems, and construction methods.
• Strong understanding of seismic design principles and relevant codes.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.).
• Experience working on diverse projects within Northern Cape or similar environments is advantageous.
• Ability to manage project budgets and client expectations effectively.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis for various construction projects in Kimberley.
• Manage and mentor a team of structural engineers and technicians, fostering technical excellence.
• Develop detailed structural calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Oversee the review and approval of structural designs prepared by the team.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes, standards (e.g., SANS), and client requirements.
• Collaborate closely with architects, clients, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.
• Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and provide technical support.
• Manage project timelines and resource allocation for the structural engineering team.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements in structural engineering software and techniques.
• Contribute to business development and client relationship management efforts.
