Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Structural Engineer based in Johannesburg to lead bridge design projects, mentor teams and liaise with clients. You will supervise detailed design, ensure code compliance and drive technical excellence across the project lifecycle.

You will apply advanced structural analysis tools and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams in a hybrid work environment, balancing office and field activities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering with a bridge focus.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is mandatory.
• MSc/MEng in Structural Engineering is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design and analysis of bridges from concept to detailed design.
• Oversee preparation of specifications, drawings and tender docs.
• Perform advanced structural analysis using industry software.
• Ensure compliance with SA and international design codes.
• Mentor junior engineers and guide design teams.
• Collaborate with project managers, architects and construction teams.
• Visit sites for verification, construction support and issue resolution.
• Prepare technical reports and project updates for clients.

Education

BEng / BSc in Civil Engineering

MSc / MEng in Structural Engineering (desirable)
