Placements24 is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for a leading civil engineering firm in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. The role focuses on overseeing design, analysis and construction phases across diverse building projects, ensuring compliance with local codes and high engineering standards.

Ideal candidates will have a proven track record in structural design, strong problem-solving abilities, and leadership skills to mentor juniors and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Civil Engineering with Structural specialization.
• ECSA Pr. Eng. registration.
• Minimum 8 years of progressive structural engineering experience.
• Proficiency in ETABS, SAP2000, Revit Structure, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of SANS and international codes.
• Experience managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Experience in Pietermaritzburg region advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Lead structural design and analysis for building projects.
• Perform detailed calculations using design codes (e.g., SANS).
• Prepare drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate teams.
• Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Conduct site inspections and provide construction support.
• Review shop drawings and construction methods.
• Ensure safety and quality regulatory compliance.
