Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of SANS and international codes.

About the Role

Our client, a leading firm in the civil engineering sector, is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Structural Engineer to join their dynamic team in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis for a variety of building projects, including commercial, residential, and industrial structures.


• Conduct detailed structural calculations using relevant software and design codes (e.g., SANS 10160, SANS 10162).


• Prepare comprehensive structural drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.


• Manage and mentor junior engineering staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.


• Liaise effectively with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.


• Perform site inspections and provide technical support during the construction phase.


• Review and approve shop drawings and construction methods.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Structural Engineering.


• Professional registration with ECSA (Engineering Council of South Africa) as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.).


• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design and project management.


• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as Etabs, SAP2000, Revit Structure, or similar.


• In-depth knowledge of South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant international codes.


• Proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.


• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.


• Experience in the Pietermaritzburg region or surrounding areas is advantageous.
