Job summary

Placements24 presents an opportunity for a Senior Sous Chef at a renowned steakhouse in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. You will support the Head Chef, manage day-to-day kitchen operations, oversee food prep and quality, and mentor junior staff to maintain high standards.

We seek a culinary leader with at least 6 years in professional kitchens, strong grill and butchery skills, and a proven track record in menu development, cost control, and health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years in professional kitchens.
• At least 3 years in a Sous Chef or senior role.
• Strong grilling and butchery experience.
• Proven leadership and staff management.
• Excellent food safety and sanitation knowledge.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in Nelspruit.
• Relevant culinary qualifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee kitchen operations to ensure efficiency and quality.
• Supervise and mentor junior chefs and staff.
• Prepare and cook a wide range of dishes to high standards.
• Manage inventory, stock control, ordering, and waste reduction.
