Placements24 is recruiting a skilled Sommelier & Wine Program Manager for a renowned Stellenbosch fine-dining restaurant. You will curate the wine list, manage inventory, train staff, and guide guests through pairings to elevate the dining experience.

Bring advanced certification and 5+ years in high-end service, with a passion for global wines and cost-conscious program management. Relocation to Stellenbosch is requested where applicable.

Qualifications

• Advanced Sommelier certification required.
• Minimum 5 years in a sommelier or senior wine management role.
• Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, varietals, viticulture and oenology.
• Experience in wine list development, inventory control and cost management.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and staff training abilities.
• Willingness to relocate to Stellenbosch.

Responsibilities

• Curate and manage the restaurant's wine list with variety, quality, and profitability.
• Source wines and beverages, and manage supplier relations.
• Oversee wine inventory, cellar organization and stock control.
• Provide expert wine recommendations and food pairings to guests.
• Lead wine staff training sessions to enhance knowledge and sales.
• Organize wine tastings, winemaker dinners and beverage promotions.
• Ensure licensing regulations related to alcohol service are followed.
