Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Social Worker to lead the outreach programs in the Tembisa, Gauteng area. The role involves advanced casework, psychosocial support and community development for families and individuals facing social challenges.

You will mentor junior staff, help develop program strategies, and ensure high standards of care in a blended field and office environment. A strong leadership background and in-depth knowledge of SA social welfare policy are essential.

Qualifications

• MSW or equivalent qualification.
• Registered with SACSSP as Social Worker.
• 5–7 years post-qualification experience, 2+ in supervision.
• Experience in program development, management and evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of South Africa social welfare legislation.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced social work services including assessment, intervention, and case management.
• Develop, implement and evaluate community outreach programs (child welfare, substance abuse, DV, poverty alleviation).
• Supervise and mentor junior social workers and support staff.
• Conduct group work sessions and workshops for the Tembisa community.
• Coordinate with government, NGOs, schools and healthcare providers.
