Placements24 in Paarl, Western Cape, seeks a Senior Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst to monitor, detect and respond to threats in real time. You will work with SIEM, EDR, and network monitoring tools to protect critical assets and support incident response.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in SOC or security monitoring, strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and readiness to work shifts on-site in Paarl. Relevant security certifications are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years in a SOC or similar monitoring role.
• Proficiency with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar, LogRhythm) and security event analysis.
• Experience with network security monitoring tools (Wireshark, tcpdump).
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux security implications.
• Experience with EDR solutions and endpoint security principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work on-site in Paarl, Western Cape; shift work if required.
• Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, GIAC are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts from SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and EDR systems.
• Analyze security events to identify threats, anomalies, and incidents.
• Respond to security incidents per procedures: containment, eradication, recovery.
• Conduct in-depth investigations of breaches and suspicious activity.
• Perform forensic analysis to understand incident scope.
• Develop and refine detection rules and signatures.
• Stay current with emerging threats and attack techniques.
• Collaborate with security teams and IT during incident response.
• Document incidents, investigations, and resolutions.
• Contribute to SOC procedures and playbooks.
