Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Senior Rock Engineer to join the geotechnical team in Centurion, Gauteng. The role focuses on ensuring stability and safety of underground excavations and surface structures in mining projects, applying advanced rock mechanics and geomechanics to complex challenges.

The position blends office-based analysis with occasional site visits, requiring collaboration with mine planning, operations, and safety teams.

Formación

Master's degree or PhD in Rock Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 7 years of rock engineering experience in mining.
Proficiency in FLAC3D, UDEC or equivalent numerical modeling software.
Strong knowledge of geomechanics, seismic monitoring, and ground support systems.
Experience with site investigations and data interpretation.
Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.

Responsabilidades

Conduct detailed numerical modeling of rock mass behavior and mine stability.
Develop and implement optimized ground support designs for varying mining conditions.
Perform site investigations, rock mass characterization, and stability assessments.
Provide geotechnical guidance to mine planning and operations.
Investigate geotechnical incidents and recommend corrective actions.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to geotechnical best practices.
