Placements24 seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our client in Midrand, Gauteng. You will lead geotechnical analyses for underground excavations, design ground support, and implement stability models to ensure mine safety and efficiency.

The role emphasizes advanced numerical modeling, seismic hazard assessment, and collaboration with planning and operations teams. A strong track record in underground hard rock geotechnics and Pr.Eng is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geotechnical/Mining engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in geotechnical engineering with underground hard rock mining exposure.
• Proven ground support design, stability analysis, and numerical modeling expertise.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations for underground excavations (tunnels, stopes, shafts).
• Develop ground support systems and stability analyses.
• Perform seismic hazard assessments and monitoring plans.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations for mine operations teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and geologists.
