Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Reservoir Modeler to join a global energy team. Based in Bloemfontein with fully remote work, you will develop, calibrate, and apply advanced reservoir models to optimize hydrocarbon recovery and inform field development.

You will integrate diverse data, perform history matching, and generate forecasts to guide strategic decisions. The ideal candidate has 9+ years in reservoir modeling, expert tool proficiency (Eclipse, CMG STARS/GEM, INTERSECT), strong

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 9 years of experience in reservoir modeling and simulation.
• Expert proficiency with Eclipse, CMG STARS/GEM, INTERSECT, and other industry tools.
• Strong understanding of reservoir engineering, fluid flow, and thermodynamics.
• Experience with history matching, forecasting, and uncertainty analysis.
• Excellent data analysis and technical communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

• Construct and update detailed static and dynamic reservoir simulation models.
• Perform history matching against historical production and pressure data.
• Generate production forecasts under various development scenarios.
• Evaluate infill drilling and EOR strategies using simulation.
• Integrate geological, geophysical, and engineering data into models.
• Conduct sensitivity/uncertainty analyses to bound reservoir outcomes.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers, geoscientists, and management.
• Prepare technical reports and recommendations based on results.
• Mentor junior engineers and modelers to promote technical excellence.
• Stay abreast of advancements in reservoir simulation technologies.
