Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Reservoir Simulation Engineer to join a remote technical team. You will develop, calibrate, and run advanced reservoir models to optimize hydrocarbon recovery and forecast performance across projects, collaborating with geoscientists and engineers.

The role requires 7+ years in reservoir modeling, strong proficiency with Eclipse/Intersect/Tempest, and experience in history matching and uncertainty analysis.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering or closely related field.
• PhD is a plus for candidates.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in reservoir simulation and modeling.
• Proficiency with Eclipse, Intersect and Tempest.
• Strong understanding of reservoir engineering, porous media flow, and numerical methods.
• Experience in history matching, prediction runs and uncertainty analysis.
• Proficiency in data analysis, visualization, and programming (Python, R) is advantageous.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently in remote settings.
• Must be based in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Develop, construct, and maintain advanced reservoir simulation models.
• Calibrate models against historical production and pressure data.
• Run dynamic simulations to forecast performance under various scenarios.
• Conduct sensitivity analyses and quantify risks and opportunities.
• Assist in field development planning based on simulation results.
• Interpret outputs and present to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with geoscientists and production engineers for integrated modeling.
• Stay updated on advancements in simulation technology.
• Prepare technical reports and mentor junior engineers.
