Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an accomplished Reservoir Engineer for a remote/central role based in Centurion, Gauteng. The candidate will model reservoir performance, forecast production, and guide development strategies, leveraging advanced simulation tools to maximize asset value.

The role requires 8+ years of experience in reservoir engineering, strong analytical skills, and expertise in ECLIPSE and PETREL RE, with the ability to work across distributed teams and global projects.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
• 8+ years of hands-on reservoir engineering experience in Oil & Gas, with exploration/production focus.
• Expertise in reservoir simulation software and techniques.
• Strong understanding of reservoir characterization, petrophysics, and formation evaluation.
• Proficiency in economic evaluation software and reserve estimation standards (e.g., SPE PRMS).
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills; ability to interpret complex data.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly.
• Experience working in a remote capacity or with distributed teams.
• Familiarity with basins relevant to Centurion, Gauteng or related operations is a plus.
• Eligibility to work remotely and contribute effectively to a global team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain dynamic reservoir models to forecast performance and optimize production.
• Perform volumetric, material balance, and decline curve analyses to assess reserves.
• Run reservoir simulations to evaluate development options and EOR techniques.
• Analyze well test data and history to understand reservoir behavior.
• Conduct economic evaluations of development projects and recompletions.
• Collaborate with geoscientists and other engineers on integrated field plans.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management and partners.
• Stay updated with advancements in reservoir engineering technologies.
