Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Project Engineer to oversee renewable energy projects from inception to completion in Paarl, Western Cape. The role requires strong leadership, deep technical know-how in solar and wind, and a track record of delivering large-scale infrastructure on time and within budget.

You will manage detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning, while ensuring SHE compliance and tight cost control. A Pr.Eng is advantageous and relocation support is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 9 years in project engineering/management with renewable energy focus (solar, wind).
• Proven track record of large-scale capital projects from concept to completion.
• Strong PM methodologies, scheduling software (MS Project), and cost control techniques.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Experience with site supervision and construction management.
• Knowledge of South African regulations and permitting processes for energy projects is desirable.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration is a significant advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage renewable energy infrastructure projects from inception through to completion.
• Oversee detailed engineering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental (SHE) regulations and company policies.
• Manage relationships with EPC contractors, suppliers, consultants, and other project stakeholders.
• Conduct regular project progress reviews and provide comprehensive reports to senior management.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing effective contingency plans.
• Champion innovation and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensure compliance with all contractual obligations and project specifications.
