Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead renewable energy projects in the Mossel Bay, Western Cape region. You will oversee the full lifecycle, from site development to commissioning and handover, coordinating with engineering teams, EPCs, suppliers, and local authorities.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in project management with 3–5 years in solar/wind projects, plus a solid understanding of SA energy regulations and permitting processes.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2) is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with at least 3-5 years specifically focused on renewable energy projects (solar, wind).
• Proven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion, within budget and schedule.
• Strong understanding of South African energy regulations, grid connection processes, and environmental impact assessments.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end delivery of renewable energy projects, including feasibility studies, site assessments, and permitting processes.
• Develop detailed project plans, defining scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
• Oversee project execution, coordinating with engineering teams, EPC contractors, suppliers, and local authorities.
• Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
• Manage project risks, identifying potential issues and developing proactive mitigation strategies.
• Liaise with stakeholders, including investors, government agencies, and community representatives, ensuring effective communication and engagement.
• Monitor project progress and performance, providing regular reports on key milestones, financial status, and risk factors.
• Manage contracts and procurement processes for project services and equipment.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and renewable energy policies in Western Cape.
