Job summary

Placements24 is recruiting an Electrical Engineer focused on renewable energy for projects in the Richards Bay region, KwaZulu-Natal. You will design, develop and optimise electrical systems for utility-scale solar and wind projects, applying your expertise across the project lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, at least five years' experience with renewables (three in solar PV or wind), and hands-on skills in power electronics, grid integration, and design

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years in electrical engineering with 3+ years in renewable energy (solar PV or wind).
• Strong understanding of power electronics, AC/DC systems, and grid integration.
• Experience with PVSyst, AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP.
• Knowledge of South African grid codes.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for utility-scale PV and wind projects.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, and harmonic analysis.
• Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and interconnection designs.
• Ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE and grid connection requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers and site engineers.
• Conduct site assessments and provide construction support.
• Analyze performance data to optimise systems and reduce costs.
• Stay updated with renewables tech and engineering practices.
