Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Renewable Energy Systems Engineer for its client in Pietermaritzburg. The role focuses on designing, developing, and deploying innovative renewable energy solutions across PV, wind, and storage systems.

You will lead feasibility studies, develop schematics, oversee procurement, and guide project teams through deployment while ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and performance optimization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–7 years of experience in renewable energy system design & deployment.
• Proven Solar PV, Wind, and storage technology expertise.
• Strong knowledge of power systems, grid integration, and SA electrical codes.
• Proficient in engineering design software (AutoCAD, PVSyst, Homer Energy).
• Analytical, problem-solving and project management skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience in Pietermaritzburg region is advantageous.
• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer integrated renewable energy systems (PV, wind, storage).
• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments for projects.
• Develop technical specifications, schematics and docs.
• Oversee procurement ensuring quality and standards.
• Provide technical guidance to project teams and contractors.
