Placements24 in Sandton is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar farms and wind installations. You will provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires a Master’s in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems), 8+ years in the field, Pr. Eng. registration, and strong experience with high-voltage equipment and grid studies for project delivery.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in renewable energy.
• Pr. Eng. registration is required.
• Experience with high-voltage equipment and grid interconnection studies.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design and engineering for utility-scale renewable energy projects from conception to completion.
• Develop detailed electrical system designs, including single-line diagrams and equipment specs.
• Conduct power flow, short-circuit, and protection coordination studies.
• Oversee procurement, construction, and commissioning of electrical components and systems.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of electrical engineers and designers.
• Ensure designs meet codes, standards, and performance requirements.
