Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Radio Access Network (RAN) Engineer to join our client in Vereeniging. The role focuses on deployment, optimization, and maintenance of wireless infrastructure to enhance mobile connectivity across Gauteng.

The candidate will design, deploy, monitor, and optimize RAN solutions, with emphasis on GSM/LTE/5G NR and RF planning. A Bachelor's in engineering and 5+ years of RAN experience are essential for this challenging opportunity.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.
Minimum 5 years' experience in Radio Access Network engineering or similar role.
Strong knowledge of RAN principles, protocols (GSM, WCDMA, LTE, 5G NR).
Experience with RF planning tools and network performance analysis.
Familiarity with SDN concepts is a plus; strong analytical skills under pressure.

Responsibilities

Design, configure, and deploy RAN equipment and software (base stations and related systems).
Monitor RAN performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
Troubleshoot RAN-related issues and coordinate with cross-functional teams for stability.
Conduct site surveys and capacity planning to support expansion and upgrades.
Stay current with latest RAN technologies (4G/5G) and document configurations and processes.
