Placements24 is actively seeking a Property Development Lawyer to support a premier real estate development firm in Benoni, Gauteng. You will guide legal aspects across acquisition, planning, construction, leasing, and sales, applying deep knowledge of SA property law and regulations.

The role demands drafting and negotiating contracts, due diligence, and liaising with authorities to ensure timely development progress.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with ≥6 years in property law and development.
• Experience managing complex property development projects from a legal perspective.
• In-depth knowledge of South African property law, sectional title legislation, and planning regulations.
• Experience drafting and negotiating construction contracts and commercial leases.
• Strong conveyancing procedures and property financing understanding.

Responsibilities

• Manage legal aspects of property acquisition, including due diligence, sale agreements, and conveyancing.
• Advise on land use planning, zoning regulations, and development approvals.
• Draft and negotiate construction contracts, professional appointment agreements, and related docs.
• Oversee legal aspects of project financing and development agreements.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial leases and sectional title schemes.
• Ensure compliance with property laws, building regulations and environmental legislation.
• Manage disputes and litigation arising from development projects.
• Liaise with developers, contractors, consultants, and government authorities.
