Qualificações

About the Role

Our client, a leading developer of energy infrastructure projects across South Africa , is seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager to oversee the execution of key initiatives in the East London region. This demanding role requires a strategic leader capable of managing all phases of project development, from conception and planning through to construction, commissioning, and handover. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly within the energy sector, and excels in stakeholder management. This position operates on a hybrid model, requiring regular engagement with project sites and the regional office.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the complete lifecycle of energy infrastructure projects, including feasibility studies, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
• Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including engineers, contractors, and consultants.
• Ensure strict adherence to project scope, quality standards, safety regulations (HSE), and environmental compliance.
• Manage contracts, negotiate with suppliers and vendors, and control project costs effectively.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress, prepare regular status reports, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure successful project handover and closure, including all necessary documentation and performance reviews.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance project team environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical) or a related technical field.
• A Master's degree or MBA is advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years focused on energy infrastructure development (e.g., power plants, transmission lines, substations, renewable energy facilities).
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex, large-scale projects on time and within budget.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, Prince2) and proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Excellent understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) processes.
• Exceptional leadership, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and work effectively under pressure.
• Familiarity with South African regulatory frameworks and tendering processes is a significant plus.
• Professional Project Management certification (PMP, Pr. Eng, etc.) is highly desirable.
