Placements24 in Durban seeks a highly experienced Senior Process Safety Engineer to lead risk assessment and safety assurance across energy operations. You will identify, evaluate and mitigate process hazards to protect people, the environment, and assets.

The role requires expert knowledge of PHA methods (HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA), PSMS implementation, SIL and functional safety, plus strong leadership and stakeholder engagement to drive improvements and compliance.

Qualifications

• Expertise in process hazard analyses (PHAs) and risk assessments.
• Strong knowledge of PSMS, safety standards, and regulatory expectations.
• Experience leading safety programs and influencing stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Conduct PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA/FMEA) to identify process hazards.
• Develop and implement PSMS aligned with industry best practices.
• Review designs and modifications for safety compliance.
• Investigate process safety incidents and drive corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training for staff.
• Monitor KPIs and lead safety improvement initiatives.
