Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Process Safety Engineer for a major mining chemicals client in Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. The role blends on-site assessments with strategic planning to develop and manage comprehensive process safety programs, ensuring regulatory compliance and incident prevention.

You will lead PHAs (HAZOP/What-If/FMEA), oversee Mechanical Integrity, investigate incidents, and deliver training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process safety engineering in chemical/industrial environments.
• Deep knowledge of PSM elements and OSHA or equivalent standards.
• Proven experience facilitating PHAs and conducting incident investigations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement site-specific PSM programs.
• Conduct PHAs such as HAZOP/What-If/FMEA.
• Oversee Mechanical Integrity for critical equipment.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver process safety training.
• Ensure compliance with EHS regulations.
• Review MOC proposals for process safety implications.
• Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies on process safety matters.
