Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Safety Engineer for a prominent chemical manufacturer in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. You will lead safety programs, conduct PHAs, and drive compliance with OSHA PSM and Seveso directives to protect people and assets.

Role offers a hybrid work model with opportunities to develop advanced process safety competencies, implement SIS strategies, and participate in audits, training, and incident investigations across the site.

Qualifications

• PSM implementation and regulatory knowledge (OSHA PSM, Seveso).
• PHAs including HAZOP, What-If, and LOPA methods.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) including HAZOP, What-If, and LOPA.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with local and international safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to plant personnel.
• Review process design documentation (P&IDs, PFDs) for safety implications.
• Manage mechanical integrity programs for critical process equipment.
• Participate in safety audits and inspections, both internal and external.
• Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.
