Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Process Safety Engineer to join our client’s Richards Bay operations in KwaZulu-Natal. This on-site role focuses on process safety management, hazard identification, risk assessment and robust safety systems to protect people, assets and the environment.

You will lead PSM programs, conduct PHAs (HAZOP/HAZID/LOPA), perform investigations and deliver safety training while ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous safety improvements across facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of process safety engineering experience in oil/gas or chemical industries.
• Strong knowledge of PSM standards (OSHA PSM, Seveso).
• Experience with PHAs and risk assessments, SIS and emergency relief systems.
• Excellent analytical and investigative skills; stakeholder communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage Process Safety Management programs.
• Conduct PHAs such as HAZOP, HAZID and LOPA.
• Perform incident investigations and root cause analyses.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, standards and policies.
• Develop and deliver process safety training for operations.
• Review MOC requests for safety implications.
• Perform safety audits and inspections of facilities and operations.
• Recommend measures to mitigate process safety risks.
• Maintain process safety documentation and records.
