Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Safety Engineer for operations in Vereeniging, Gauteng. You will develop and manage process safety management systems, lead hazard analyses, and ensure compliance with local and international safety standards.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years in process safety, including hazard analyses and risk assessment. Strong communication and training capabilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of process safety engineering experience in chemical/energy sectors.
• Knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA, OSHA PSM and IEC 61508/61511 standards.
• Experience with risk assessment tools and consequence modelling software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive PSM programs.
• Conduct PHAs, including HAZOP, LOPA, and FMEA.
• Develop SILs for safety instrumented systems.
• Perform consequence modelling for potential releases.
• Review design changes to address safety implications.
• Deliver process safety training to personnel.
• Investigate incidents and determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
• Develop and manage PSSRs and MOC procedures.
• Promote a strong safety culture across the organisation.
