Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Optimization Engineer in Midrand, Gauteng to elevate chemical production efficiency, safety, and sustainability. You will drive improvements across yield, energy use, waste reduction, and product quality, using advanced modeling and data analytics.

The role requires 5–7 years of process engineering experience, strong simulation skills (Aspen Plus, HYSYS), and a solid chemical engineering foundation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 5–7 years' experience in process engineering, preferably chemical/petrochemical.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis.
• Strong thermo, fluid mechanics, reaction kinetics knowledge.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Experience with SPC is a plus.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing chemical processes to identify areas for improvement in yield, energy consumption, and waste reduction.
• Design, develop, and implement process modifications and control strategies to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for proposed process changes and capital projects.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and R&D teams to troubleshoot operational issues and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain process simulation models to predict performance and optimize operating conditions.
• Oversee pilot plant studies and scale-up activities for new processes or modifications.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to operational staff.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, process documentation, and presentations for management.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in chemical engineering technology and best practices.
