Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our client’s Midrand petrochemical operations. The role focuses on optimizing complex chemical processes, improving yield, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance in a demanding industrial setting.

You will model plant performance with process simulation tools, mentor junior engineers, lead feasibility studies, and drive improvements that enhance efficiency and profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years progressive process engineering in oil & gas or petrochemicals.
• Expertise with Aspen Plus or HYSYS and P&ID development.
• Strong thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and reaction kinetics.
• Experience with HAZOP and safety management systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and implement process improvements for petrochemical operations.
• Conduct feasibility studies and technical assessments for new projects.
• Use process simulation software to model and optimize plant performance.
• Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance to operations teams.
