Job summary

Placements24 has a client in Richards Bay seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to join their chemical manufacturing team. You will design, optimize, and troubleshoot chemical processes to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective production, contributing to operational excellence.

You will drive yield improvements, reduce waste, and ensure compliance with stringent industry standards, collaborating with production, R&D, and maintenance to implement best practices and safety reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical manufacturing industry.
• Experience with process simulation software (Aspen HYSYS, CHEMCAD) and data analysis tools.
• Strong knowledge of chemical reaction engineering, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory requirements in chemical plants.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement new chemical processes or modifications to existing ones to improve efficiency, safety, and product quality.
• Monitor process performance, analyze data, and troubleshoot issues to optimize yields and reduce operational costs.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, operating procedures, and batch records.
• Ensure all processes comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations, implementing robust control measures.
• Collaborate with production teams, R&D, and maintenance to resolve technical challenges and implement best practices.
• Lead or participate in process hazard analyses (PHAs) and other safety reviews to identify and mitigate risks.
