Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Development Engineer for our Randburg facility. You will drive innovation by scaling up new chemical processes, optimize existing ones, and ensure safe, efficient production.

You will lead projects from concept through full-scale implementation in collaboration with R&D, operations, and engineering teams. The role requires a strong background in reaction engineering, process modeling, and safety assessments, with 7+ years in the

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in process development, scale-up, and optimization within the chemical industry.
• Strong background in reaction engineering, separation processes, and process modeling.
• Experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus) and statistical analysis tools.
• Excellent understanding of safety regulations and environmental impact assessments.
• Strong leadership, project management, and technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and optimization of new chemical processes from lab scale to pilot and commercial production.
• Design and conduct experiments to evaluate process parameters, yields, and product quality.
• Develop P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and equipment specifications for new processes.
• Perform techno-economic evaluations and risk assessments for process changes and new ventures.
• Troubleshoot complex process issues encountered during scale-up and commercial operation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project implementation and technology transfer.
