Placements24 is seeking a skilled Process Control Engineer to join the Mossel Bay site. The role focuses on designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced control strategies for complex chemical processes to ensure optimal performance and stability.

The candidate should have a strong background in instrumentation, automation, and process dynamics, with experience in chemical plant operations and cybersecurity considerations for control systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process control engineering within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Proficiency with major DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion) and PLC systems.
• Strong understanding of instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and control theory.
• Experience with alarm management, safety instrumented systems (SIS), and cybersecurity for control systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and maintain DCS and PLC systems.
• Develop and implement APC strategies to improve efficiency and quality.
• Tune control loops and troubleshoot instrumentation/control issues.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering to meet process needs.
• Create and maintain documentation for control systems (P&IDs, diagrams, manuals).
• Provide training and technical support to operations on control system functionalities.
