The ideal candidate has 5+ years in process control within chemical/petrochemical sectors and hands-on experience with Honeywell Experion, DeltaV, Siemens, and Rockwell PLCs.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Process Control Engineer to optimize automation and control systems for their chemical facilities in Soweto . This role is vital for enhancing process stability, efficiency, and safety through the implementation and management of advanced control strategies. You will work closely with operations and engineering teams to design, commission, and maintain distributed control systems (DCS), programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and safety instrumented systems (SIS). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of chemical processes and expertise in modern control system technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain advanced process control strategies , including PID loops, model predictive control (MPC), and batch control.
• Configure and program DCS and PLC systems for various chemical processes.
• Develop and manage Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Troubleshoot control system issues and optimize system performance for improved efficiency and reliability.
• Collaborate with process engineers and operations personnel to understand process needs and control requirements.
• Develop and deliver training on control system operation and maintenance to technical staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering , Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process control engineering , specifically within the chemical or petrochemical industry.
• Hands-on experience with major DCS platforms (e.g., Honeywell Experion, Emerson DeltaV) and PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell).
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation , control theory, and functional safety (SIL).
• Proficiency in simulation and modeling tools for control system design.
• Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
