Placements24 is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead design, analysis, and implementation of power system projects in Paarl, Western Cape. You will work on transmission/distribution networks and renewable integration, ensuring grid reliability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 5 years in power systems engineering, design and analysis.
• Proficiency in PSS/E, ETAP or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Strong knowledge of protection principles and relay settings.
• Experience with grid integration of renewable energy sources.
• Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, and NRS standards.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed power system studies: load flow, short-circuit, stability, protection coordination.
• Design and specify transformers, switchgear, relays, and transmission lines.
• Develop and implement protection schemes for generation, transmission and distribution.
• Plan and design new power infrastructure projects and grid upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and codes (IEEE, IEC, NRS).
• Collaborate with project managers, field engineers, and clients to deliver objectives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve power system operation issues.
• Review engineering designs and technical documentation.
