Job description

About the Role

Our client, a trailblazer in electric vehicle technology and advanced battery systems, is looking for an exceptional Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join their fully remote, innovative engineering division. This role is crucial for the design, development, and optimization of high-efficiency power conversion systems that are integral to our next-generation electric powertrains and charging infrastructure. You will be responsible for the entire development cycle, from concept definition and detailed design of converters, inverters, and battery management systems, to simulation, prototyping, and rigorous testing. The ideal candidate possesses a deep theoretical understanding of semiconductor devices, control algorithms, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), combined with practical experience in developing robust and scalable power electronic solutions. Working remotely, you will collaborate closely with global teams of engineers, researchers, and product developers, driving forward the technological frontiers of sustainable mobility. Our client is committed to fostering an environment of continuous innovation and providing opportunities for significant professional impact. This position offers the chance to make a substantial contribution to the future of clean energy and transportation, working on state-of-the-art projects from your home office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and validate high-performance power electronic converters (e.g., DC-DC, DC-AC, AC-DC) for electric vehicles and charging applications.
  • Develop and implement advanced control strategies for power converters to ensure optimal efficiency, dynamic response, and reliability.
  • Select appropriate semiconductor devices (e.g., SiC, GaN, IGBTs) and passive components based on application requirements and performance targets.
  • Perform detailed simulations using tools like SPICE, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink to analyze circuit performance, thermal behavior, and electromagnetic interference.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and conduct thorough validation of prototypes in laboratory and vehicle environments.
  • Ensure designs meet stringent safety, regulatory, and EMC/EMI requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers on thermal management solutions and with system engineers on overall powertrain integration.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in power semiconductor technology, converter topologies, and control techniques.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on power electronics design and development.
  • Document designs, test results, and technical specifications thoroughly.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics.
  • A PhD is highly advantageous.
  • A minimum of 8 years of industry experience in the design and development of power electronic systems.
  • Proven expertise in designing high-frequency, high-efficiency power converters.
  • Strong understanding of control theory and its application to power electronics.
  • Experience with wide-bandgap semiconductor devices (SiC, GaN) is a significant plus.
  • Proficiency in simulation tools (PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink) and schematic capture/PCB layout software.
  • Experience with automotive-grade product development and testing is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
Benefits

This fully remote position offers an exceptionally competitive compensation package, including a high annual salary and potential performance bonuses. Our client provides comprehensive health benefits, flexible working hours, and generous paid time off. You will have access to cutting‑edge simulation tools and resources, as well as opportunities for professional development, including advanced training and conference participation. The chance to work on groundbreaking technology in the rapidly growing EV sector offers significant career advancement potential.
