Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a knowledgeable Petroleum Geologist for a hybrid role in Rustenburg, supporting exploration and development efforts in the Oil & Gas sector. You will analyze geological data, delineate reservoirs, and assist drilling campaigns with a team of geoscientists and engineers.

Responsibilities include interpreting seismic, well log, and core data; identifying plays; building geological models; supporting well planning and monitoring; and preparing reports for stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology or related geoscience discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in petroleum exploration and development geology.
• Proficiency in Petrel, GeoGraphix, and seismic interpretation techniques.
• Strong understanding of sedimentary basins, stratigraphy, and structural geology.

Responsibilities

• Interpret seismic, well log, core, and other geological data to define subsurface structures and stratigraphy.
• Identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon plays and prospects for exploration.
• Develop and refine geological models for reservoir characterization and resource estimation.
• Provide geological support for drilling operations, including well planning and real-time monitoring.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers and geophysicists on integrated field development studies.
• Prepare geological reports, maps, and presentations for internal reviews and external partners.
