Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Petroleum Engineer for a client in Sandton, Gauteng. You will lead reservoir and production engineering activities, oversee field development plans, and work with cross-functional teams to optimize recovery and costs while ensuring safe operations.

The role requires 9+ years in petroleum engineering, strong experience with reservoir simulation (ECLIPSE/CMG/INTERSECT), EOR methods, and leadership capabilities to mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 9+ years of progressive experience in petroleum engineering.
• Experience with reservoir simulation software (ECLIPSE, CMG, INTERSECT) and well performance analysis tools.
• Proven track record in field development planning and production optimization.
• In-depth knowledge of EOR methods and formation stimulation techniques.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects and work in a demanding environment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed reservoir studies, including performance analysis, material balance, and decline curve analysis.
• Develop and implement integrated field development plans, optimizing well placement and production strategies.
• Utilize reservoir simulation software to forecast production and evaluate recovery scenarios.
• Assess and recommend enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques and stimulation methods.
• Manage production operations, troubleshoot issues, and improve efficiency and output.
• Collaborate with geoscientists, drilling engineers, and commercial teams on asset evaluation and strategy.
• Prepare technical reports, economic models, and presentations for senior management.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
