Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of a leading Oil & Gas operator in Randburg, is seeking a Senior Reservoir Engineer to lead reservoir management and development planning. The role demands expertise in reservoir simulation, EOR techniques, and reserves estimation, with mentorship responsibility for junior engineers.

The successful candidate will drive production forecasts, collaborate with geoscientists and drilling teams, and ensure adherence to industry standards in a dynamic energy landscape.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of reservoir engineering experience.
• Proven expertise in reservoir simulation software (ECLIPSE, CMG, OFM).
• Strong understanding of reservoir fluid mechanics, rock properties, and multiphase flow.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Proficiency in reserves estimation and economic analysis methodologies.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience with field development planning and project management is highly desirable.
• Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute integrated reservoir management plans for key assets.
• Conduct detailed reservoir characterization and performance analysis using geological, geophysical, and engineering data.
• Build, calibrate, and run reservoir simulation models to forecast production and evaluate development scenarios.
• Design and assess the feasibility of Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods.
• Perform economic evaluations for development projects and optimize field production strategies.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including geoscientists, production engineers, and drilling engineers.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, reserves estimates, and presentations for management.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior reservoir engineers.
• Stay current with the latest reservoir engineering technologies and best practices.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
